Placenta Previa

The placenta, or afterbirth, is coming first, ahead of the baby, and lying over the mouth of the womb. When there are uterine contractions this location of the placenta provides for very poor attachment to the wall of the uterus and the result is bleeding, which is sometimes very heavy.
